Wolf Range Hood FG Error: Filter Clean Reminder
What Does Wolf Range Hood FG Mean? The FG indicator on Wolf V Series vented cooktop hoods is a filter maintenance reminder rather than a fault code. Quick Assessment
Answer to continue safely
Is it safe to keep using?
Yes. FG is a maintenance reminder, not a safety issue. The hood is safe to use until you have time to clean the filters. Plan to clean within a week or two of the first reminder appearance.
Can I reset the code?
Yes. The DELAY key hold sequence resets the reminder counter. After the reset, FG does not reappear until another 100 hours of runtime.
When to stop immediately?
Stop if you notice: FG reappears immediately after reset without cleaning, Filters are visibly torn or damaged.
Symptoms You May Notice
FG indicator illuminates on the hood display
The FG label appears on the black glass hood display after roughly 100 hours of cumulative blower runtime, signaling that grease filters need cleaning.
Hood continues to operate normally
Unlike a fault code, FG does not affect hood operation — the fan runs at any selected speed and lights work normally.
Grease filters feel heavier than usual
Visible grease accumulation on the aluminum mesh filters confirms the reminder is accurate.
Possible Causes
Normal maintenance interval reached
The hood has accumulated 100 hours of runtime since the last filter cleaning, which is the factory-set reminder interval.
DIY PossibleFilters not cleaned thoroughly at last reminder
The reminder was reset without actually cleaning the filters, so they are now heavily loaded even before the interval expired.
DIY PossibleReminder reset did not take effect
The reset key combination was not completed correctly at the last cleaning, so the counter continued from before.
DIY PossibleSafe Checks You Can Do
-
1
Remove and clean the grease filters
Remove each aluminum mesh filter from the hood. Wash in a dishwasher using the normal cycle, or hand-wash with a mild degreaser. Let dry completely before reinstalling.
Do not run the hood without filters — grease accumulation in the blower housing is both a fire hazard and a repair cost.
-
2
Reset the filter reminder
After reinstalling the clean dry filters, hold the DELAY key until "FF" appears on the display. This resets the filter reminder counter back to zero.
On some Wolf hoods the reset key is marked with (F). The sequence is always hold-until-FF-appears.
When to Call a Professional
