Wolf gas range recall 2002 — Wolf Range Co. Inc. and Wolf Appliance Co. LLC, both of Madison, Wisconsin, and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a recall in May 2002 covering approximately 15,000 residential gas ranges sold under the Wolf and Wolf Gourmet brand names. Delayed ignition of gas in the ovens and broilers can put consumers at risk of burn injuries and fires.
Hazard
Gas accumulates in the oven or broiler cavity when ignition is delayed, and the accumulated gas can ignite in a flash when combustion finally occurs. This exposes the consumer to burn injuries and presents a fire hazard to nearby combustible materials.
Affected models
- 30-inch, 36-inch, 48-inch, and 60-inch Wolf residential gas ranges (natural gas and LP configurations)
- Sold under the Wolf and Wolf Gourmet brand names
Serial numbers affected
- 60-10000000 through 60-1099999
- 11000957 through 11006106
Where to find the serial number
In most units, the serial number is located on the left side of the range beneath the removable burner pan on the range top. On some 48-inch models, the serial number is located in the same area on the right side.

Urgency level
Medium to high for units still in service. This is a legacy CPSC recall. Although most affected units have already been repaired through the recall program, Wolf ranges sold 1996-2001 that have not had the recall service completed remain at risk. Confirm with Wolf customer care at 800-222-7820 whether your specific serial number has a recall-repair record on file.
